THE CHALLENGE

Virtually Engage Cloudera’s employees for a Week of Service

A growing number of our clients are exploring organizing a month, a week, or even a day service around the giving season to maximize social impact and bring the joy of volunteering to employees before the holiday season.

In October 2022, after participating in multiple virtual volunteering experiences, Cloudera decided to host a week of service with Goodera. For a company with employees working out of multiple different time zones delivering the same 5-star experience to someone volunteering out of New York as that of someone volunteering out of Budapest became a challenge that we had to overcome.

To achieve this, we worked closely with the Cloloudera team to plan and create a framework that successfully helped us execute their Week of Service

Pre-event

One of the requirements that were important for Kyndryl was volunteering to impact employee communities. Goodera took this on to source activities for a diverse range of cause areas and beneficiaries. Our activities included:

  1. Flyers about the event
  2. NPO introduction
  3. A “Know Before You Go” manual for volunteers that consisted of information about:
    → The cause area
    → The non-profit
    → The activity

During event

  • Goodera Ambassadors to host events and conduct icebreakers and challenges during the event to help employees in getting to know each other and collaborate better
  • Impact mailers

Post-event:

  1. A Goodfie (photo of the volunteer teams)
  2. Thank you note from the non-profit
  3. A post-event email containing:
    → Zoom recording of the event
    → Poll report
    → Participants data
THE RESULTS

Cloudera’s week of service impacted 320 beneficiaries, most of whom included youth and children. Employees participated in activities including learning ASL to record messages of hope, and recording audiobooks for young girls in Ghana.
